My highlights from Growth Minded Superheroes 2024
Conferences are so much more than interesting talks from amazing speakers
Conferences are so much more than interesting talks from amazing speakers.
Here are 24 of my personal highlights from Growth Minded Superheroes 2024:
1. Traveling to Frankfurt by highspeed train together with many members of the Tartan Army. What a relaxed way of transportation.
2. Catching up with Bas Schotte during pre-conference pizza diner.
3. Starting the conference day with a run alongside the river Main with the Graceful Morning Striders: Chris, Luke, Omar and Slobodan.
4. Walking into the Alte Opera. Amazing venue to host a conference!
5. Hearing Michael Aagaard praise Vista's customer service. 💙
6. 🚀 Luke Frake: do not optimise your experimentation program on velocity OR quality. Instead optimise for the combination: impact.
7. Shagun Aulakh shared a harsh truth: “All leaders say they want a culture of experimentation, but in the end they actually don’t care”. And that is a problem because “If they don’t care, they don’t invest”.
8. Finding out that Slobodan Manić and myself have similar goals for life.
9. Stefanie Grimmling & Anastasia Shvedova showing that a duo presentation can actually be done really really well.
10. Sean Ellis stressing the importance of product market fit. "Without PMF sustainable growth is impossible."
11. Learning from Ioana Teleanu why AI will not replace us anytime soon. As long as we focus on what we are good at: defining the problems to solve, bringing people together and truly understanding human psychology.
12. Seeing Erin Weigel present the core ideas from her book Design for Impact.
13. Hearing Lukas Vermeer clearly explain that people worrying about interaction effects is more troublesome than interaction effects it selves.
14. Hoping on a resurrection of the CRO.CAFE Podcast by Guido with the help from the community.
15. Meeting the Conversion Stash 'Board of Directors' IRL: David Stepien, Niklas Bräutigam and Nils Koppelmann.
16. Finding out that Marina Ostrowski is part of the 'Positive' family. (sorry to have missed you John!)
17. Catching up with Ralf Haberich on business and road cycling.
18. Getting a 'Make things better, not only different' sticker from Erin.
19. Watching the Scotland-Switzerland game with fellow Scotsman Craig Sullivan while talking about the beauty of the Scottish Highlands.
20. Chatting with Marcella Sullivan about starting a hagelslag (Dutch chocolate sprinkles) importing business to the UK.
21. Finally finding a restaurant that could still serve some food to Five Guys (well, four guys and one girl).
22. Brainstorming with Ward van Gasteren on how to grow a business.
23. Closing the night with fellow Dutchies: Reinier, Shirley, Ruben en Ton.
24. Thanks to André Morys & Julia Rumpf for crafting such a great event!
This trip was proof of how wonderful the experimentation community is and how beautiful our European continent is, especially during the ⚽ Euros.
