Experimental Mind #219
Your weekly overview of interesting reads, events and jobs for the experimental mind.
Hi folks! Next month will be conference month. With ten events on the calendar there is enough to pick from. I’ll be in Frankfurt at the Growth Marketing Summit on June 19th. Hope to see you there.
In this week’s edition: a chat with Dean Eckles, how Netflix cracked down on password sharing, career advice from Edin Bidani, new job opportunities and something that made me smile.
Let’s go.
➡️ Smart tooltips for web form optimisation

Chat with Dean Eckles
Sven Schmit, Head of Statistics Engineering at Eppo, sat down with Dean Eckles, Associate Professor of Marketing at MIT and former Meta and Twitter scientist. A nice discussion many things around experimentation.

Netflix’s password sharing crackdown
Tested two methods to shake freeloaders. One where you would pay per household (Reed Hasting’s favourite) and one where you can add new users for an additional fee. Netflix tested these strategies in different countries in Latin America.

💬 My Experimentation Career Journey
Today’s interview is with Eden Bidani. Eden is the founder and Head of Strategy & Copy at CAPE agency.
You need to stay focused on results, not on wishful thinking. Because while something might sound good on paper, that doesn’t mean it will translate to a better user experience or better result when it’s deployed in an experiment.
